Where to Find the Best Ice Cream in Davis County

During the warmer months of the year, an ice cream date is perfect, in my opinion! You can grab an ice cream to go and take to a park, eat it in your car, or take and enjoy it during your date night activity. Ice cream is a great start or end to any summer date that you already have planned. It’s also a great option when your time together is limited. Or it’s been a while since you’ve dated your partner so a long date feels overwhelming.

The Best Places for an Ice Cream Date in Davis County

Blacksmith Ice Cream Co.

Location: Bountiful Main Street (180 S Main Street, Bountiful)
Blacksmith Ice Cream Co. features hand-churned, small-batch, seasonal ice cream! Their flavors feature fresh fruit that is grown locally and other locally sourced ingredients. You can find them on Instagram @blacksmithicecream where they share glimpses into their business and the delicious flavors that they are currently making! Their storefront is fun to see as you drive or walk down Main Street. You can get your ice cream to go or eat it out front, at one of the tables they have set up.

The Kaysville Creamery

Location: 1 Main St, Kaysville, UT 84037
They are located on Kaysville Main Street, just a few doors South of the Kaysville Theater, on the corner of that block. Some of the flavors I saw on their menu in a sneak peek picture of the shop are Sneakerdoode, Bishop’s Bash, and Fluffernutter. I’ve been told there used to be a similar shop in Kaysville so they’ve revived an old favorite.

Thurgood Creamery

Location: 2432 W 1700 S B-1, Syracuse, UT 84075
This ice cream shop has seasonal, year-round, and allergy-friendly flavors. From their pictures and reels, they don’t skimp on add-ins, and every photo and description will have your mouth watering. Some of their flavors have classic names, while others are creative to local culture, like ‘I-15 Pothole Rocky Road’. We’re excited to check this new spot out!

Soda Crazy

Location: 1050 N Main Street, Layton
It’s not regular ice cream, but Soda Crazy has delicious Italian Ice and custard. They have various combinations of the two that look really delicious. The Craze has custard on the bottom and top with Italian ice in the middle. You can also have your favorites made into floats or shakes. The menu is extensive and definitely worth checking out!

Burly Burger

Location: 2131 N Hill Field Rd Suite C, Layton, UT 84041
Any time Burly Burger posts a shake on its social media page, I want to jump in my car and grab one immediately! They’re simple but huge and delicious! Choose from vanilla or chocolate ice cream and add your favorite fruit or candy mix-ins. Make a dinner date of it and enjoy their burgers, fries, and onion rings while you’re there.

Tony Burgers

Location: Parrish Square, next to Dick’s Market (100 W Parrish Lane, Centerville)
Tony Burgers handspun shakes menu isn’t extensive, but it’s delicious! Each shake is topped with whipped cream and includes a large straw to help you enjoy all of the add-ins. My suggestion would be to order the Cookies & Cream shake. I know this post is about ice cream, but when you stop by, it would be a shame not to order one of their delicious burgers and fries or onion rings while you’re there.

Berry Station

Location: Kaysville (28 North Flint Street, Kaysville)
If you like frozen yogurt, this is the place to go! Berry Station is locally owned and the owners are a big part of the business and the kindest people. Their shop is bright, clean, and tastefully decorated while maintaining a fun train station theme. The menu at Berry Station goes beyond self-serve frozen yogurt and toppings. They also have a handful of Bubble Waffle concoctions and also offer Fish Waffles; Both options are filled with frozen yogurt and delicious toppings. Such a fun place for date night or a family adventure!

Harmons

Location: On the east side of Station Park (200 N Station Pkwy, Farmington)
It’s not classic ice cream, but Harmons makes gelato from scratch on equipment imported from Italy. Gelato is a cold, sweet, treat that is denser than ice cream but oh so delicious. If you are a fan of the European dessert, you’ll want to swing by Harmons and grab yours today! They have tables inside where you can enjoy and if you head upstairs, you’ll enjoy some prime people watching at the same time.

Mrs. Cavanaugh’s

Locations: 835 N Pointe Circle, North Salt Lake // 170 W 500 S, Bountiful // Layton Hills Mall
Our family toured the factory this summer and at the end of the tour got to sample any flavor of ice cream we wanted. The ice cream was super creamy and the flavors were spot on! I never think to go to Mrs. Cavanaugh’s for anything other than chocolate, but you can get their ice cream prepacked as well as in a cone or a bowl. The Bountiful location has a drive-thru, making it convenient and perfect for an end-of-date pickup to enjoy on your drive home.

Handel’s

Location: 2468 S Main Street, Woods Cross // 240 S Fort Lane, Layton
Handel’s has the widest variety of ice cream flavors of any shop I’ve ever seen! Not only can you order one of many delicious flavors, but you can also get your ice cream fix in different forms; on a cone, chocolate dipped pops, the Handel’s Hurricane, a sampler, sundaes, pints packed to take home, and more!

Nielsen’s Custard

Locations: 570 W 2600 S, Bountiful // 378 S Main Street, Layton
The two Nielsen’s Custard locations in Davis County are independently owned but offer the same delicious menus. Their custards are delicious and a long time fan favorite. Thicker than your normal ice cream, and yummy with your favorite mix-ins. If you visit before 5 pm, you can order fries, onion rings, burgers, and sandwiches. But in the evenings, only their custards are served.

Dairy Queen

Locations: 527 S 700 W, Woods Cross // 816 S Main Street, Layton // 1142 Highway 193, Layton // Layton Hills Mall
Growing up, Dairy Queen was the hot hang out spot! Everyone loved stopping in for an order of fries and a sundae or a blizzard. Their blizzards are kind of like a shake, with ice cream mixed in with various add-ins. You can create your own favorite or order a seasonal creation. Their sundaes are my personal favorite, although I’m in those more for the hot fudge sauce than the ice cream. They also have ice cream bars or dipped cones you can enjoy.

Culver’s

Locations: 620 N 500 W, Bountiful // 340 E Gentile Street, Layton // 281 N 2000 W, West Point
I’ve heard amazing things about Culver’s custard but have yet to try it. You can enjoy your custard as a sundae, mixer, on its own in a cone or a dish, as a shake, malt, or float, or even in a container to take and have on hand at home. Everything on their menu looks like a win!

Arctic Circle

Locations: 1438 N Main Street, Bountiful // 2071 Orchard Drive, Bountiful // 328 Main Street, Kaysville // 1075 N Fairfield Rd, Layton // 1093 N 1700 S, Syracuse
Multiple times this summer, I have seen different friends of mine post a delicious-looking twist ice cream cone to social media. And every time they do, I ask where they got it and it has ALWAYS been Arctic Circle! If you’re looking for some classic, delicious soft-serve ice cream, Arctic Circle is the place to go! I’m also a pretty big fan of their shakes.

Get out and enjoy your favorite ice cream classics and try a few new places as well. Add ice cream to your next date night, or escape for a short date when you have a minute. You can never go wrong when you add ice cream to your planned activities!
