Where to Get the Best Hot Chocolate in Davis County
Drinking hot chocolate together has been one of my and my husband’s favorite things to do since early on in our relationship. It can be a quick way to get some quality time together at the end of a long day after the kids have gone to bed, or when you have an afternoon off from work together. Whether you're stuck at home, have a couple of hours to spare, or are looking for something fun to fill an entire afternoon, a hot chocolate tasting would make a really fun date night!
Hot Chocolate Date Ideas
Hot cocoa taste-off
For a fun hot chocolate-tasting date activity, make a list of places that serve hot chocolate you want to try. Break the list up and try a new location every week so you don’t get burnt out on hot chocolate too quickly.
Hot chocolate mini-date
Find some time for a mini date, or go out and get a cup you can bring home and enjoy together before bedtime. At the end of the season, decide for yourself which cup of chocolate you prefer.
Sweet date night ending
Instead of spending your entire night drinking hot cocoa, pick up a cup to enjoy at the end of your date nights out throughout the colder months. Spend time after you enjoy your hot chocolate rating and review it together. At the end of the season, you’ll have your ratings for the very best hot cocoa in the area.
Where to Get the Best Hot Chocolate in Davis County
Black Bow Chocolates
Location: 13 W Center St, Kaysville
I made a trip to Davis County’s newest chocolate shop, mostly for hot chocolate, and I think I can officially say it’s my favorite cup in the area! It’s rich, creamy, and delicious! They have flavor syrups you can add, but I enjoyed it plain with whipped cream and chocolate shavings on top. This season they added coffee and choffee (brewed cocoa beans) to their menu as well. Try this one out at least once!
Caffe Torrino
Location: 58 N Main St, Farmington
If you haven’t visited this quaint shop on Farmington’s Main Street yet, you need to stop by! The Chocolatto isn’t technically hot chocolate, but it’s one of my favorite things on the menu. This drink is the consistency of pudding and it’s warm and delicious. They also have hot chocolate and steamers on their menu and those are yummy as well. Pair your warm chocolate with a crepe for an extra delicious date.
Berry Station
Location: 283 N Flint St, Kaysville
Berry Station opened a few years ago and has quickly become a favorite for local families. During the winter months, they serve hot cocoa in addition to their frozen yogurt. They provide flavored syrups you can add to your cocoa to personalize it. Order their donuts to complete your cold weather treat, or add a scoop of frozen yogurt to your cup for extra fun. They also make beautiful hot cocoa bombs that you can order to take home and enjoy or gift.
Hot Cocoa Bombs in Davis County
Goose Egg Bakery
When the hot cocoa bomb trend started on social media, it quickly spread to many local dessert shops. I could watch those videos of the warm milk melting the outside chocolate to reveal marshmallows and hot chocolate mix all day long. At first, I was disappointed because nobody would deliver the fun treats to Utah. But then I found someone right here in Davis County that makes them, and they quickly became my favorite. These would make a fun at-home date night dessert option. Click here for a full review of our experience with Goose Egg Bakery.
Berry Station
Location: 283 N Flint St, Kaysville
Information for cocoa bombs at Berry Station has not been released for this year. In addition to the hot cocoa in-store, Berry Station accepts orders for their hot cocoa bombs. Each bomb has a unique design, and they come in three different sizes, some with a second, smaller bomb on the inside. Berry Station’s hot cocoa bombs are unique in that they are hand-painted with edible glitter. These make fun gifts for anyone in your life!
The Best Drive-Thru Hot Chocolate in Davis County
Thirst
Location: 1545 S Main St, Bountiful
Just south of the five-point roundabout in Bountiful is Thirst Drinks & Treats. If you’ve never been, their pretzel bites, scotcharoos, and weekend features are my favorite. This year they are adding hot cocoa to the menu, and it’s served piled high with whipped topping! I’m excited to try it!
Swig
Locations: 165 S 500 W, Bountiful // 330 N Marketplace Dr Suite B900, Centerville // 260 S Fort Ln Ste. 101, Layton // 916 W 1700 S Suite C, Clearfield
Last year there were two flavors of hot chocolate on the Swig menu. The Nutcracker has hazelnut and vanilla cream to flavor it. Dream Cocoa is Raspberry and Coconut Cream. You can also create your own flavor combination if you want.
Fiiz
Locations: 761 N Redwood Rd #140, North Salt Lake // 45 W 400 N, Bountiful // 104 S Main St, Centerville // 121 N N E Promontory, Farmington // 1346 W 200 N, Kaysville // 2631 N Hill Field Rd, Layton // 1400 N Hill Field Rd, Layton // 1642 S 2000 W, Syracuse
You’ll have to ask about their warm drink menu, but I saw it posted on social media last year and it looked extensive and yummy. I’m hoping they’ll make it more obvious this year so we can all enjoy it.
Twisted Sugar
Locations: 25 W Parrish Ln, Centerville // 377 E Gentile St, Layton // 817 W 1700 S UNIT B, Syracuse
I drove past Twisted Sugar one year and noticed that they were advertising gourmet hot cocoa so I had to try it! They have a few different flavors including Irish cream, peppermint, hazelnut, and toasted marshmallow. You can order your cup of hot cocoa with marshmallows, whipped cream, or just plain. It’s pretty good hot chocolate and I would definitely order it again.
In-N-Out
Location: 475 N 700 W, Centerville
I went for burgers and a shake and noticed hot chocolate on their menu. Any time it’s raining or snowing, kids get a free cup. A few weeks later when it was raining, I took the long way home after school pickup and we grabbed our hot chocolate and an order of fries. It was the perfect rainy day snack, and the kids’ cups of hot chocolate were the perfect size to enjoy.
Bahama Bucks
Location: 1015 N 500 E, North Salt Lake
They call them Island Warmer Hot Koko and they come in white and dark chocolate. Head over to the North Salt Lake location and grab a cup before driving up into the mountains to see the leaves, or driving around looking at holiday lights later in the season!
Dutch Bros
Locations: 250 W Parrish Ln, Centerville // 1131 W 100 N, Farmington // 475 N Main St, Layton
I tried Dutch Bros hot chocolate one year when I was tasting my way across the area. They have a variety of flavor add-ins you can enjoy so you can get as creative as your heart desires. It was almost overwhelming how many flavor combinations they had. I wasn’t super impressed with whichever flavor I tried, but I think I would like it plain, without any syrups or flavors added. Dutch Bros has a great drive-thru experience that everyone needs to enjoy at least once in their life.
Kneaders
Locations:1050 N 500 E, North Salt Lake // 1324 W 200 N, Kaysville // 480 W Antelope Dr, Layton
If you like the darker hot chocolate, you’ll love Kneaders hot chocolate!
The Best Gas Station Hot Chocolate
Maverik Gas Stations
We live right next to a Maverik, so when the craving hits, we’ll drive the block to the gas station and grab a hot chocolate to enjoy. I love adding a pump of hazelnut syrup to my cup while I’m there. After having tried a lot of different hot chocolates, I would say that Maverik has some of the best.
7-Eleven
They are well known for their Slurpees, but I’ve heard the hot chocolate is amazing too.
The Best Hot Cocoa in Utah
Hatch Family Chocolates
Location: 376 8th Ave A, Salt Lake City
A handful of years ago, I discovered this fun, family-owned chocolate shop in The Avenues of Salt Lake. Someone suggested that I try their hot chocolate and I immediately fell in love. I try to get down to drink a cup at least two or three times every year. I’m not sure if it’s a good thing or a sad thing that I don’t live closer to so that I can stop by every week for my favorite chocolatey treat.
