The classic date night often includes a meal and an activity. Something like dinner and a movie or lunch and bowling. You might not always have the time needed to enjoy those specific activities on your date nights, and you don’t need to. Going out for dessert or a quick snack can be just as fun, and can fill any amount of time you have to spend together. I remember many dates when we’d grab ice cream and fries and sit down for just half an hour to talk and connect over food we both enjoyed.
The Best Places for a Dessert or Appetizer Date in Davis County
Dessert Date in Davis County
Who doesn’t love a good dessert date? Sometimes all you have time to do together is grab something quick to enjoy, and a treat fits the bill. There are obviously so many different places you could go to get a treat. Everything from cookies to ice cream to donuts is available in the area. The list below includes some classic treats you can enjoy on your next date night, as well as some unique ones you might not always think about.
Bahama Bucks
Bahama Bucks is completely committed to yummy treats! Their menu includes a handful of different things you can order in a variety of flavors. The shaved ice is probably their most popular menu item, and you can get it with just ice, or you can add ice cream to the bottom of your cup and cream to the top. A yummy, cold treat for date night!
Parson's Bakery
If you like baked goods, Parson’s Bakery is the place to go for your dessert date. They have pastries, donuts, cookies, pies, and even some savory sandwiches. Just looking at the menu on their website makes my mouth water. Parson’s is a great place to stop for a quick treat together!
Kneaders
It’s almost impossible to walk into Kneaders and NOT order one of their many pastries and desserts. They’re all on display, just calling your name. I’m a sucker for their double chocolate brownie, but I don’t think you can go wrong with anything you order. Their tarts are gorgeous and delicious if you’re a fruity dessert person. If you’re looking for a treat to share, I’d suggest the chocolate mousse dome or carrot petite cake.
Nielsen’s Frozen Custard
With a location in Bountiful and in Layton, Nielsen’s is a great place to stop for a frozen treat! Their frozen custard is delicious on its own and even better with a variety of add-ins. I’m a big fan of chocolate custard with either Oreos or English toffee pieces blended in. But there’s something for everyone and any flavor you love!
Mrs. Cavanaugh’s
We enjoyed a date night a few weeks ago when we got to taste test a variety of chocolates from shops around the state. Mrs. Cavanaugh’s is open late ish and a fun stop for ice cream, chocolates or other treats you might enjoy. You could grab a box of a variety of flavors and taste them all to determine your favorites. Or just get your favorite to enjoy on your date together.
Caffe Torino
Caffe Torino is located in a cute house looking shop on Farmington Main Street. They offer a variety of yummy treats to enjoy! Their crepes are really popular and come in a few sweet varieties. They’re also known for their cronuts and offer a variety of flavors, often coordinating with the current season or an upcoming holiday. One of my favorite things to order when I visit their cute shop is a Chocolatto, which is like hot chocolate but it’s thicker and almost a pudding consistency. You can also get gelato, tiramisu or cannoli.
Twigs
On my date night bucket list for this year is grabbing dessert from Twigs and eating it by the fountains at Station Park. Their Drunkin’ Donuts are at the top of my list, along with the Sticky Cookie. But they offer a variety of different desserts you can enjoy together inside the restaurant, out on the patio or ordered for takeout and eaten closer to the fountains.
The Pie Pantry @ Cherry Hill
When Cherry Hill is open for the season, the Pie Pantry is open as well. They offer full pies, slices of pies, and frozen yogurt. But something that could be fun to pick up after a round of mini-golf, or just as you’re driving by, is one of their pie pockets. Pie pockets come in a few different fruit flavors and are basically a hand pie, so perfect to split so you can try a couple of different flavors.
Berry Station
I went into Berry Station a few weeks ago to grab hot cocoa bombs, and their store atmosphere is so fun and perfect for a dessert date! They’re best known for their frozen yogurt, but they also offer mini donuts and bubble or fish waffles that you can fill with frozen yogurt. A visit to their shop makes a fun and delicious dessert date!
Sweet Tooth Fairy
Stop by Sweet Tooth Fairy on your next dessert date for a yummy cupcake, cake bites, or a cookie. The desserts at Sweet Tooth Fairy are high quality, uniquely flavored, and oh so delicious. Their shops are always fun to visit and they offer gluten-free varieties if that’s something you’re looking for!
Handel’s Ice Cream
Handel’s is new to Davis County, but any time I’ve seen others in the Salt Lake and Utah County areas sharing their treats, it’s looked delicious! They offer every kind of ice cream treat you could imagine, in what feels like a million different flavors. They even have sherbets and ices you can enjoy.
Snack/Appetizer Date in Davis County
If you can make date night happen in the middle of the afternoon or later in the evening, you will often be able to take advantage of discounted appetizers at various restaurants. But sometimes you just want a snack, and to take a walk together, or sit in your car and watch a comedy sketch. Whatever your date night agenda is, these places will add some savory and yummy to the mix. Any restaurant with appetizers you enjoy will work, but these are a few suggestions we love!
Robintinos
Robintinos breadsticks and ranch…. Need I say more? If I’m being honest, their breadsticks are my favorite part of the meal, and I could be happy with just them and a side salad. Why not pick up an order (or two or three) of breadsticks to enjoy at home while you watch a movie or play your favorite board game? Or to eat in the car while you do this music library date.
Annie’s Crepes
Annie’s Crepes recently opened as the storefront version of a local food truck. They’re located on 500 South in Bountiful and the perfect place to stop in for something savory (or sweet). They offer the most delicious crepes, many of them in a savory or meal-style crepe. You can pick one to share for an afternoon snack, or each order your own and share a few bites you so you can try them all.
Hug-Hes
There’s something about the food at Hug-Hes that is really good! I’m a big fan of their Spinach Artichoke Dip and the sweet potato waffle fries. It’s hard not to go for an entire meal when you look at their menu, but they have so many good things you can get for an appetizer date!
Pretzel Maker
Pretzel Maker is inside Station Park and has both sweet and savory large pretzels and pretzel bites. It’s the perfect snack to enjoy while you wander around Station Park.
Dates don’t have to last hours or cost oodles of money. By taking time to get dessert or a savory snack together, you’re saving money, often avoiding crowds, and being more intentional about the time you do have and your opportunity to connect as a couple!
