If you’re less than a fan of winter like I am, I've come up with fun ideas for date nights and family activities that we can enjoy during the cold summer months, and I wanted to share a few of them with all of you!
When I envision a pumpkin patch date night, I remember just how much I love the fall season, even if I'm not too excited about Halloween and scary things.
A few years ago we drove all the way to Thanksgiving Point for our first corn maze experience because I didn't think that there were any here locally. Now I know that we can support local farms and have some fall fun all at the same time!
Most people seem to wait until October hits to start their autumn activities, but I've decided that fun needs to start sooner so that we can take full advantage of opportunities for fall fun and romance. A lot of pumpkin patches, corn mazes, and other fall festivals start in the next couple of weeks. I wanted you to have all of the details so that you can start enjoying your fall date nights then as well!
When the kids head back to school, lunch dates became a regular part of our relationship. I’ve always loved a good lunch date, and I never realize how much I miss them until they’re back in our regular date night routine! Every couple should be enjoying a mid-week lunch date, at least once a month, in my personal opinion.
One of the best things about July, in my opinion, are the firework shows! I love cuddling up under on a blanket, watching the fireworks and listening to music, and then sticking around to stargaze for a while afterward.
One of the best days of the year happens the first Friday in June every single year. It's National Donut Day!!! If you’re planning on celebrating Donut Day this year, here are the best places to grab a delicious treat in Davis County.
Movies in the park are one of my favorite things about summer. I love bringing treats and settling down on blankets in the park to enjoy a movie with all of my friends and family
I love summer for a lot of reasons, but one of those is the outdoor concerts and other events. The concerts in Davis County are a great way to spend your evenings together. They are free to the public and provide an opportunity to support local talent.
The USU Botanical Gardens have become one of my favorite places in Davis County. I love the calm piece of nature that’s right in the middle of town. I think it’s almost more gorgeous when it’s cold than during the summer or fall. The pond freezes in places and everything is covered in snow.
Davis County has three different performing arts centers where you can go to enjoy local talent in one of your favorite musicals or plays. They are all great theatres run by amazing people who have a goal to keep music and the arts alive in our community. They would all make a great addition to your next date night!
In the middle of Davis County is a little oasis. There's something to love for everyone, whether you're an outdoors enthusiast or not. Spend the day there, a couple of hours, or just 15 to 20 minutes. It doesn't matter how much time you have or what your plans are for the night, this is a fun place to escape and spend time together.
One of my favorite summer date nights is Summer Nights with the Stars! These summer concerts are hosted by the Davis Arts Council at the Kenley Amphitheater in the middle of Layton Commons Park. Each summer they pull together a wide range of artists to perform on their outdoor stage. Most of the concerts are music based, but every so often they will have comedians or other entertainment as well.
We used to feel like we needed to go to Salt Lake to find something that felt special enough for our anniversary date night. Now that I know everything Davis County has to offer, I know that I was wrong. There are so many fun and unique things to do in our area and I wanted to share them with you. Whether you're looking for a romantic dinner or a fun adventure, one of these ideas below is guaranteed to fit your anniversary date night needs.
This time of year is when everyone starts to think about ways that they can serve their community and those in need. I love to see all of the ways that people around me are giving back to those less fortunate. I've also seen quite a few couples incorporating service into a date night or two throughout the year and think it's a fantastic idea! So if you're looking for a new date night idea during the holiday season or the winter months following, this post is for you!
Whether you're looking to go on a long drive, want to go somewhere a few degrees cooler, are looking for a fun summer adventure, or want to go camping overnight, we highly suggest heading up to Farmington Canyon.
International Sushi Day is this coming Thursday June 18th and I wanted to give you enough notice that you could celebrate with a date night over the weekend if you want. Like most random holidays, there is a real purpose behind. The purpose of this holiday is to raise awareness about the truths and fiction surrounding sushi.
National Fishing and Boating Week takes place the first week of June and I thought you might want to plan a date night to celebrate! This post contains everything that you need to know to plan your fishing date(s) or getaway for the week.
Station Park is one of our favorite places to go for date night all year round. We love the atmosphere and being able to stay in one place for our entire date night. There are lots of great places to eat and play at Station Park, no matter the time of year! This year I want to share ideas for your date nights at Station Park for each of the four seasons. Below you’ll find a few ideas for spring fun!
The classic date night often includes a meal and an activity. Something like dinner and a movie or lunch and bowling. You might not always have the time needed to enjoy those specific activities on your date nights, and you don’t need to. Going out for dessert or a quick snack can be just as fun, and can fill any amount of time you have to spend together.
For those couples who aren’t able to return to “date night as normal” quite yet, I wanted to provide you with some date night ideas you can still enjoy, despite the current restrictions and how that limits you!

These are all things that we hope to do between now and the end of March when (fingers crossed) we see spring!
If you need me this season, I’ll be spending a lot of time at Station Park with friends, on my own and out on dates with my little family and my husband.
A while back on A Prioritized Marriage, I shared why we love day time dates and some of our favorite activities for when we go on those dates. Today I thought I'd follow that up with a post here sharing our favorite local day date activities.
We’re hoping to start venturing out of the house for more date nights in the coming months. I put together a list of date night activities that you can do outside the house, while keeping yourself and others safe. Some are completely social distanced, and others are still in public but with social distancing protocols in place. I hope you get a chance to take advantage of some of these over the next few months.
Every time we drive past Orlando's on Main Street in Kaysville, one of us says something about how we need to eat there. It look us way too long to follow through on that plan, but we finally tried them out a couple of years ago and we’ve been going back often ever since!
Mini golf is a classic date night activity but it’s one that we hadn’t done for quite a while. I love how laid back it is, compared to a real round of golf or even playing somewhere like Top Golf. We didn’t keep score and were often playing holes a couple of times. The signs and the decor make it a lot more fun as well. If it’s been a while since you went mini golfing, this is a must do date night activity. It’s great for a summer night when you can enjoy the gorgeous weather while doing something fun!

As a couple, we love watching the performing arts for date night! We also love to volunteer. That’s when we came up with the idea to put them together!

A tradition that we started the first year of our marriage was to drive around town sometime the week before chocolate, our favorite hot chocolate in hand, enjoying all of the Christmas light displays. Each year I find out about more Christmas light displays in the area and add them to my list of places to visit. I hope this list of local light displays helps you plan an epic family activity or date night this holiday season!
