Last month, we went on our first date night out of the house since quarantine started. We had been getting together with our families on Sundays again, so we felt comfortable having our nieces come tend the kids. I put together a date where we stayed literally in our own neighborhood. We ate within a block of our house and went to play less than two miles away. Because I knew a lot of things were still closed, I went with something that I KNEW would be open. Cherry Hill had recently opened their mini golf course, and had great restrictions in place for social distancing and sanitation so we decided to go there.
Where: Cherry Hill (1325 S Main Street, Kaysville)
Price: $8 per person for 18 holes of mini golf
Cherry Hill is taking many precautions to limit spread of the virus. You will need to visit their website to reserve your tee time, before you go play. Tee times open up at 5am, one week out. Reserving your time slot online helps to keep the number of people on the course at one time under control. You will also pay online to reserve your spot, limiting the passage of money or cards when you get there. When we played through the course, everyone was really respectful of others playing and stayed on the hole behind them until they were finished. We had a couple of families who let us play through and pass them so we weren’t waiting for their group with small kids to play each time. When your game is over, you drop your putter into a bucket of sanitizing solution, so things are cleaned immediately.
Mini golf is a classic date night activity but it’s one that we hadn’t done for quite a while. I love how laid back it is, compared to a real round of golf or even playing somewhere like Top Golf. We didn’t keep score and were often playing holes a couple of times. The signs and the decor make it a lot more fun as well. If it’s been a while since you went mini golfing, this is a must do date night activity. It’s great for a summer night when you can enjoy the gorgeous weather while doing something fun!
A fun addition to your date night could be a visit to Cherry Hill’s Pie Pantry. We didn’t stop by because my husband is gluten free and wouldn’t have been able to enjoy the treat. They have pie pockets, which are like little turnovers, that would make the perfect post date dessert!
