Valentine's Date Ideas in Davis County for 2024

If I could pick one day of the year and find the majority of couples in the world out on a date, it would for sure be Valentine’s Day! But I want to tell you that you don’t have to celebrate your relationship on February 14th. Valentine’s Day isn’t like Halloween, and people aren’t going to look at you funny if you’re having your Valentine’s date sometime other than the evening of February 14th. That might be earlier in the day, the evening before or after the holiday, on the weekend, or just sometime during the month.

In this post, you’ll find some fun and romantic date ideas happening around Davis County this year. If you’re unable to go out, I’ve included some ideas for replicating a few of these ideas at home. At the bottom of the post, I’ve linked you to even more posts with ideas for celebrating your love this year! You’ll also want to keep an eye on our Instagram stories and the “Valentine’s” highlight on that profile where I will share Valentine’s Day specials, menus, and date night packages various businesses have put together.

Book lovers picnic

The Book Garden, located on Bountiful Main Street, is doing something super fun for book lovers on Valentine’s Day! You can reserve an alcove on the holiday for a romantic, intimate, book date. It’s unique and romantic and would thrill the book lover in your life! Visit their website to reserve your spot for just $25. That includes an alcove and a blanket for a bookish picnic. You can bring your picnic, or they will send an email with options to add on a charcuterie board if you’d like.

Do this on a budget: Visit your local library. Pick out a book to sit and read together at the library. Or sit close together and read your books individually. Take your books on the go and set up a picnic somewhere you can enjoy.

Do this date at home: Set up a cozy reading nook in your home. Somewhere with good light, fluffy pillows, and warm blankets. Bring your favorite snacks and drinks. Invite your date to bring their favorite book and join you for some cuddles and reading.

Ballroom or swing dancing

You don’t have to be a professional dancer to enjoy this date because everyone is there to learn! February 13th and 14th are each one of six nights that a Ballroom Dancing class series and a Swing Dancing series are taking place at Woods Cross High School or Renaissance Academy. Click here to learn more and add it to your plans.

Do this date at home: Take time to research and find a free or within-your-budget dance class/tutorial online. For your date, dress up a bit and make space for dancing. Spend your time laughing, dancing, and having fun learning together. Then turn on your favorite songs and dance together for the rest of the night.

See a show at one of the local community theaters

CenterPoint is showing ‘A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder’, Hopebox will run ‘9 to 5’ starting just after the holiday, and On Pitch Performing Arts has ‘Hunchback of Notre Dame’ running. Visit our upcoming events page to see what is playing where and when and plan your date.

Visit an art exhibit

The Bountiful Davis Arts Center has five different exhibits on display currently, through February 17th. Visit during their open hours to check them out, then pop across the street for ice cream from Blacksmith Ice Cream Co. Click here to learn more about the exhibits at BDAC.

Grab breakfast

Instead of joining the rest of the world for Valentine’s evening, go out to eat in the morning and head in to work a little late. Davis County has some great places to grab breakfast. Click here for a list and pick somewhere new, or a classic favorite, to visit. A few of the locations only serve brunch/breakfast on the weekends, so you might plan your date for the weekend before or after the holiday. But you can find a lot of great places to eat on a weekday morning so you can celebrate on Valentine’s Day itself.

Do this date at home: Wake up early and make your love’s favorite breakfast. Set the table with your fancy dishes and some candles. Invite your partner to join you for a sit-down meal before you both head off to your activities for the day.

Meet for a lunch date

I will pump up lunch dates until the end of time, especially on a holiday! Meet for an hour, connect and enjoy each other’s company. Then you’re free to celebrate in the evening with the whole family, or keep it low-key and relax at home. Click here for some of our favorite places to meet for lunch.

Go for happy hour

Happy hour is less expensive and less busy than any other time of the day when it comes to restaurants. You might also find a babysitter easier to get after school hours. Pick somewhere that serves your favorite drinks and appetizers and go for a quiet afternoon date. Click here for some great places to visit in Davis County.
