With the consistently hot temperatures we’ve been experiencing, I’m always looking for ways to cool off right now! Getting all hot and sweaty while out on a date isn’t the most fun thing. If you’re like me and prefer staying a bit cooler, you’ll enjoy these cool date ideas for summer!
Get a cold treat
When it’s hot outside stick with cold treats over something fresh baked and potentially warm! Ice cream, snow cones, smoothies, etc. make a great date night treat! And short date nights to grab a treat are perfect during the busy summertime.

Go to the movies
Summer is always a good time to catch a movie in theaters because there are a lot of good things playing. It’s also a great time to take advantage of deals. Cinemark theaters offer Discount Tuesdays when you can watch movies at half the price of a normal ticket. Locally, the Kaysville Theater has recent movies and some older favorites that you can see for $5 or less per ticket. Movies in the park are free and happen after sundown, when the temperatures are a bit cooler.

Involve water
Grab some squirt guns from your house or invest in some new ones, and engage in a water fight. Visit a pool or one of the water parks in our area (Cherry Hill or Lagoona Beach).
Head to the mountains
It’s always a bit cooler up the canyon and at a higher elevation. Davis County has amazing mountains and trails and places to explore. This activity makes a great, active date night for couples!

Stay inside
Even though it feels like you should be outside during the summer, it’s perfectly ok to stay inside when it’s extra hot. We love doing activities at places like The Rush Funplex or Boondoocks. You can go axe throwing, bowling, or ice skating. Mrs. Cavanaugh’s in North Salt Lake has a fun tour you can go on and enjoy a treat at the end. Below I mention going to see a play or a musical or even going to The Improvables.
Enjoy local talent
There are plenty of opportunities to support and enjoy local talent in Davis County. You will find concerts featuring local talent and artists at farmer’s markets, city festivals and celebrations, and throughout the area at events listed in the link below. Visit our Upcoming Events page for details on community theatre shows and other fun shows playing throughout the summer. Check out the Improvables for more local talent and a night of laughter.

Wait until the sun goes down
The sun goes down later in the summer, but there are also a lot of activities available after dark this time of year. Movies in the park, fountain shows at Station Park, stargazing, and even glow-in-the-dark games at the park can be a lot of fun. Even going for a late night walk around your neighborhood or on a local trail makes a great summer date.
