Summer Date Night Ideas in Davis County

Scenic Sunset Hike

We completed this date one year as part of our anniversary celebration weekend. We took the Wild Rose Trail to one of the scenic overlooks, but there are many trails around Davis County with great views of the sunset at night. Be aware of difficulty and bring a flashlight so you can hike safely back down the trail after the sun has gone done. Be sure to let someone know where you’ll be going and when you plan to be back, then check-in when you complete your hike, to stay safe. Click here for a great map of the trails in Davis County.

Hang out at Station Park

One of my most memorable dates in our relationship happened at Station Park, in its early days. I remember we sat around the fountain chatting with friends until everything was closed. We enjoyed the fountain shows and people watching. I’ll always remember a cute older couple who stayed almost as late as us, dancing to the music. You can eat at one of many restaurants at Station Park, hang out near the fountains, shop, and enjoy the atmosphere of summer. They also have outdoor concerts to enjoy later in the summer.

Visit the Farmer’s Market

Davis County doesn’t have one large market like some other counties have, but this summer we have four farmer’s markets in Davis County. You’ll find locally grown produce, home baked goodies, crafts, food trucks and more! I love visiting the farmer’s market to see what fun things are in the area and discover local businesses. Get fruits, vegetables, breads, jams, honey, all the things to eat a meal at the market while you people watch or enjoy live entertainment they might have. Below is a list of the current markets in Davis County and when they are open.

  • Sunset Farmer’s Market (85 W 1800 N, Sunset) - Tuesdays 5 pm - 9 pm, May - September

  • Bountiful Farmer’s Market (75 E 200 S, Bountiful) - Thursdays 4 pm - 8 pm, June 20 - October 17

  • Syracuse Farmer’s Market (1891 W 1700 S, Syracuse) - Thursdays 5 pm - 9 pm, June 13 - October 31

Breakfast Picnic Date

Summer mornings are perfect for a picnic! Grab breakfast from home or a local eatery and take it to your favorite park to enjoy before the temperature gets too high. Many brunch/breakfast spots have patios you can eat on, or you can get food to go and take to your favorite park for a picnic. You’ll find a link below that will give you a list of the best brunch and breakfast locations in Davis County.

Watch Fireworks

Firework shows are probably my favorite part of the summer and Davis County has plenty of them! Most will happen the week of July 4th, but a few are scattered throughout the month until after Pioneer Day. Check social media, and come back to check our website, for the firework shows that will be available this year and where to watch them, for a more intimate date.

Dine Outside

Summer is the perfect time to eat outside! Whether you find a restaurant with a patio, grab takeout and enjoy it at a local park, or make something to eat outside at your own home, you can enjoy this date! Something as simple as eating outside, somewhere you don’t usually eat, can make a normal night extra special.

Get Ice Cream

There’s no better way to cool off during the summer than with a date night to get ice cream! Davis County has many ice cream shops that have popped up recently and they handchurn amazing flavors from Bountiful to Syracuse. If you want something classic, grab a concrete or frozen custard from Nielsen’s or Culver’s. We also love a hot fudge sundae or a simple blizzard from one of the local Dairy Queen locations.

Dinner at a Food Truck Event

I love grabbing dinner at a food truck event because you can try a variety of things, share meals, and satisfy both of your cravings without stopping at multiple locations. Be sure to check to see if your favorite food truck events are happening this summer before you attend.

Cuddle Up for Movies in the Park

One of my favorite things to do on a cool summer night is to cuddle up in a pile of blankets and watch movies outside. We do this in our backyard a lot, but I also look forward to local outdoor movie events. As things are starting to open back up, movies in the park are going to be a thing again! Be sure to check out our events calendar and social media channels for more information as those lineups are announced.

Attend an Outdoor Summer Concert

Local talent is highlighted in concerts across the county all summer long. Take a picnic, or grab food at one of the food trucks in attendance and enjoy music accompanied by the sounds of summer around you. I’ve seen outdoor concerts being added to calendars around the county and plan to publish a post with all of that information this month.

Local Summer Festivals

Davis County boasts a lot of fun summer traditions, including but not limited to, city sponsored 4th of July celebrations, Bountiful Handcart Days, and Summerfest. Plan a date to participate in various activities and celebrate with your city!

Tour Your Town

Rather than going on a vacation, explore your own area! Visit the city museum, check out those businesses that have been around forever, try a locally owned restaurant, and walk historical main street. What things are in your own backyard that you have taken for granted? You can visit Discover Davis for ideas of what’s around or ask a local group on social media for suggestions.

Worth the Trip

Full Moon Lift Ride

A few years ago, we crossed something off my date night bucket list and took a romantic lift ride up the mountain under the light of the full moon. It’s a bit of a drive to Sundance, where this event takes place once a month, but it is definitely worth the trip!
